2018 Season – Training Camp

The 2018 BUMS NFL Fantasy Draft will take place at BUMS Headquarters from 7pm on Sunday September 2nd preceded by a burger & hot dog banquet provided by Cheryl (thank you, lady). The first game of the season is Atlanta @ Philadelphia (the reigning Superbowl champions) and is played overnight on Thursday September 6th. We’ll be getting together on the evening of Friday 7th to watch it. Trading Day 1 will be at HQ from 3pm on October 14th before week 6’s games and Trading Day 2 will be before week 11 on November 18th. I hope as many as possible can make them, please put them in your diaries now. And so we begin Year 24 of the BUMS and talking on reigning champions, can anyone step up and stop Craig from becoming the first owner to Three-peat. Mark, Wayne and Johnnie have all won back-to-back Papas Fritas Trophies but they never completed the hat-trick. I hope you are all back for another season to try and stop Craig. If not please let me know asap. Franchise Players The time for the selection of our 2018-19 franchise players has arrived. You must supply the name of your new franchise man by July 14th, so just over 2 weeks time. To help out a few bits of research are attached. Firstly is the final table with each owners teams (so you can remember who you had on your squad in the first place) and how much they will cost you for the next two years if you franchise them. Remember if you cut your franchise player you still pay him his signed salary for the rest of the season/two seasons. Johnnie will work with a budget of $9m having cut kicker Cairo Santos his $1m 2017-18 franchise man. Key franchise players becoming available again include QBs Aaron Rodgers, Andy Dalton & Cam Newton, running back Todd Gurley and receivers Jarvis Landry & Michael Crabtree, to name but a few who have all ended their 2 year franchise designation and become free agents. They are released onto the open market together with the rookies - the rookie report (attached) details the 29 players from the first 3 rounds of the NFL Draft who may be available to us this season, together with who signed them. According to NFL.com the key free agency moves affecting the BUMS were:- Redskins QB Kirk Cousins (#1) who left for Minnesota, Jacksonville WR Allen Robinson (#4) who is now in Chicago, fellow receiver Sammy Watkins (#7) who went from the Rams to the Chiefs and Vikings QB Case Keenum (#10) who went to Denver.
